- The plans for
the 2010 summer party.
- The car park at
Manningtree station.
- The use of SATNAV
systems in rural areas.
- Noise from the
A12.
- Lighting at Maison
Talbooth
- Affordable rural

- The possibility
of extending the AONB westwards towards Sudbury
- The proposed new
National Grid 400 kv line.
- The proposed flagpole
on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.

- The venue and guest list for the 2010 summer party.
- Noise from the A12.
- Lighting at Maison Talbooth
- Affordable rural housing
- The possibility of extending the AONB westwards towards Sudbury
- The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
- Ideas for recruiting new members.
- The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.
- Council design guides

- The Society’s relationship with the River Stour Trust and in
particular the ‘mass canoe rally’ held in September.
- Progress on the Buntings’ planning application for Horkesley
Park.
- The venue for the 2010 summer party.
- The new car park at Manningtree Station.
- Noise
from the A12.
- The
proposed Tesco development at Manningtree.
- The role of the Standing Working Party and its response to
the draft Dedham Vale AONB & Stour Valley Project plan.
- The possibility of increasing the size of the AONB.
- The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
- Ideas for recruiting new members.
- The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory
of Wilf Tolhurst.
- The venue for the 2010 AGM.
- The date of the next meeting: 30th November,
2009.
The
committee meeting held on 30th June2009
was
attended by the president, chairman and secretary of the Society and
9 committee
members.
Simon Amstutz of the Dedham Vale AONB and Stour Valley Project
had also been invited to attend and useful
links between the Project and the Society were established.
The following matters were discussed:
- How to
take forward with NATS the matter of redrawing the aircraft route
map
- The Society’s relationship with the River Stour Trust and in
particular its plans for a ‘mass canoe rally’ in September.
- Progress on the Buntings’ planning application for Horkesley
Park.
- The summer party for potential younger members held in June
and the possibility of future parties for the membership.
- The new car park at Manningtree Station.
- The possibility of the Vale being given World Heritage Site
status.
- Noise from the A12.
- The proposed Tesco development at Manningtree.
- Ideas for recruiting new members.
- The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory of
Wilf Tolhurst.
- Arrangements for the AGM on 14th September, 2009.
- The date of the next meeting: 1st October, 2009.

was attended by the president, chairman and secretary

Society and 8 committee members.

- NATS recent letter
about a new consultation later in the year, following detailed consideration
of the feedback received during
the original consultation
in 2008
- The Society’s relationship with the River Stour Trust.
- The new planning
application for Horkesley Park and the effect it might have on the
Vale.
- Plans for
a summer party in 2009.
- The new car
park at Manningtree Station.
- The caravan
park at Rushbanks Farm, Wissington.
- The scrapyard
at Dedham.
- The possibility
of the Vale being given World Heritage Site status.
- The Environment
Agency Fisheries monitoring programme.
- Colchester
Borough Council’s local framework and policies.
- The proposed
Tesco development at Manningtree.
- The proposed
flagpole on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.
- Arrangements
for the 2009 AGM.
- The date of
the next meeting: 30th June, 2009.

Annual
General Meetings
The
AGM held on 14th September 2009
at Nayland Village Hall
The
Presidents comments to the AGM
are

The
business of the meeting was as follows:
- The
president welcomed the officers, committee and 49 members of the
society to the 71st annual general meeting.
- The
minutes of the last AGM and the accounts for 2008 were adopted.
- The Essex and
Suffolk planning reports for the year, as published in the newsletters,
were discussed and several new concerns were raised.
- Committee members
were elected and re-elected.
- The membership
secretary reported on the number of members and their geographical
distribution.
- Simon Amstutz
of the Dedham Vale & Stour Valley Project reported on the project’s
work during the year.
- The president
made his report on the past year, which is now available in its entirety
on this website.
- The meeting was
treated to a fascinating and charming talk by Roger Clark, traditional
farmer and farrier, about his reminiscences of farming in Suffolk
over the last 50 years.

DVS Events
The
2010 Summer Party
for members and their guests will be held
in June at Lawford Hall,
by
kind invitation of Francis and Maureen Nichols.
Summer Party 2008
The Society’s
summer party was held on a rare lovely evening in June 2008 at the
home of the president, Robert Erith: Shrubs Farm, Lamarsh. Photographs
