The
committee meeting on 25th February, 2008
was attended by the president, chairman, treasurer and secretary
of the Society and 5 members of the committee.
The
following matters were discussed:
- The recent publication of NATS ‘Proposed Changes
to Airspace’ and the consultation process, which will continue
till 22nd May.
- The repairs being carried out to Stratford lock by the River Stour
Trust.
- The probable new planning application by Buntings, Great Horkesley.
- The approval of
a planning application to rebuild the study centre at Flatford Mill.
- The forthcoming summer party on 19th June.
- The development at Bathside Bay, Harwich.
- Light pollution.
- CPREssex.
- The Society’s response to government white papers.
- VAT on repairs and extensions to listed buildings.
- Traffic monitoring.
- The covenant to the National Trust of land in the Vale.
- The Abberton reservoir scheme.
- The Dedham village statement.
- Tesco land at Manningtree.
- The proposed expansion of Manningtree station car park.
- The Honorary Treasurer’s report.
- Membership figures.
- The newsletter.
- Arrangements for the 2008 AGM, at which Paul Gallifant agreed
to give a talk entitled ’70 years in the Vale’.
- The date of the next meeting – 30th June, 2008.
The
committee meeting on 15th October, 2007
was
attended by 3 officers of the Society, 2 planning secretaries
and 5
members of the committee.
The following matters were discussed:
- Aircraft noise and the forthcoming consultation exercise with NATS.
- The River Stour Trust and the use of canoes and other craft on the
river.
- Buntings’ forthcoming
planning application for the use of the greenhouses at Great Horkesley.
- Possible developments at the Field Study Centre at Flatford.
- The development of barns at Scotland Place, Stoke by Nayland.
- 2008’s
summer party, again at Shrubs Farm, Lamarsh.
- Church interiors.
- Improvements to Shelley Priory Farm.
- The huge impact on the Vale of the vast new dock planned at Bathgate
Bay, Harwich.
- Noise and light pollution.
- The treasurer’s
report.
- The updating
of the Society’s
website.
- Ways and means of increasing membership.
- The 2008 AGM, which will be held at the Assembly Rooms, Dedham on
8th September, 2008.
- The impact on the Vale of lighting at the new Colchester stadium.

was attended
by the president, chairman, secretary,
one planning secretary
and 5 members
of the committee.
The
following issues were discussed:
- Aircraft noise and the fact that the timetable for implementation
had not yet been put in place.
- The River Stour Trust.
- Buntings’ forthcoming planning application for use of the greenhouses
at Great Horkesley.
- Possible development at Flatford Mill.
- Development of the barns at Scotland Place, Stoke by Nayland.
- Plans for the summer party.
- Modern building style in the Vale.
- Wind energy.
- The Woodland Trust.
- A new dwelling at Holly Farm, Stoke by Nayland.

was attended by the chairman,
secretary, treasurer,
one planning secretary and
4 members of the committee.
The
following items were discussed:
- The forthcoming consultation
process concerning the issue of aircraft noise over the AONB.
- The probable new planning application by Buntings at Great Horkesley.
- A recent meeting between the chairman with the Essex planning secretary
and the planning department of Colchester Borough Council.
- Lighting on the A12.
- The rejection of the appeal at Wiston Airfield.
- The Society’s website.
- The treasurer’s report.
- A possible summer party.
- The 2007 AGM at which Michael Collins, conservation officer for
Babergh DC, has agreed to speak.
- The date of the next meeting: 4th June, 2007.
