Summarised Minutes

The committee meeting held on 14th November, 2011
was attended by the president, chairman and secretary
of the Society and 5 other trustees.

The following matters were discussed:

  • NATS’ paper ‘Review of options for Abbot arrivals from the East.
  • The River Stour Trust’s landing stage at Dedham.
  • Further proposed developments at Horkesley Park.
  • Plans for the 2012 summer party.
  • The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
  • Light pollution in the Vale.
  • The proposed extension to the AONB.
  • The government’s new planning framework.
  • Hay meadows.
  • The proposed development at Hallfields Farm, Dedham.
  • The application for the Rose & Crown, Dedham.
  • Babergh’s local development plan.
  • The Society’s finances.
  • Production of the next newsletter.
  • Arrangements for the 2012 AGM at the Hewitt Hall Dedham on 8th October.
  • The date of the next meeting: Monday, 6th February, 2012.

was attended by the president, chairman and secretary
of the Society and 5 committee members.

The following matters were discussed:

  • Air traffic over the Vale.
  • Colchester Borough Council’s refusal of the planning application for Horkesley Park.
  • The 2011 summer party and plans for the 2012 event.
  • The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
  • The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.
  • Light pollution in the Vale.
  • The proposed extension to the AONB.
  • The government’s new planning framework.
  • Hay meadows.
  • The proposed development at Hallfields Farm, Dedham.
  • The recently published newsletter.
  • Arrangements for the AGM on 19th September.
  • The date of the next meeting: Monday, 14th November, 2011.

  • Plans for a summer party in 2011.
  • The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
  • The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.
  • Light pollution in the Vale.
  • The proposed extension to the AONB.
  • The Localism Bill.
  • A report from CPREssex.
  • Solar panels.
  • Commemorative plaques.
  • Advertising in the newsletter.
  • Social meetings.
  • Arrangements for the AGM on 19th September.
  • Felling and replanting of willows in the Vale.
  • The date of the next meeting: Monday, 5th September, 2011.

The committee meeting held on 7th February, 2011
was attended by the president, chairman, treasurer and secretary
of the Society and 8 committee members.

The following matters were discussed:

  • The Society’s revised constitution.
  • A meeting with NATS about aircraft overflying the Vale.
  • The River Stour Trust’s plans for a new landing stage at Dedham.
  • The Buntings’ planning application for Horkesley Park.
  • Plans for a summer party in 2011.
  • The proposed new National Grid 400 kv line.
  • The proposed flagpole on Langham Church in memory of Wilf Tolhurst.
  • Light pollution in the Vale.
  • The proposed extension to the AONB.
  • The EDF transformer at Boxted Mill.
  • The Localism Bill.
  • New barns at Dedham.
  • Advertising in the newsletter.
  • The date of the next meeting: Monday, 9th May, 2011.

Annual General Meetings

The AGM held on 19th September, 2011
at the Constable Memorial Hall, East Bergholt

The business of the meeting was as follows:

  • The chairman welcomed the 11 trustees and 31 members of the Society to the 73rd annual general meeting.
  • The minutes of the last AGM and the accounts for 2010 were adopted.
  • An alteration to the constitution, in line with the Charities Act, was approved.
  • The Essex and Suffolk planning reports for the year, as published in the newsletters, were discussed.
  • Committee members were re-elected.
  • The membership secretary reported on the number of members and their geographical distribution.
  • Simon Amstutz reported on the work of the Dedham Vale & Stour Valley Partnership during the year.
  • The president made his report on the past year.
  • Members enjoyed a glass of wine and other refreshments and a chance to discuss matters, before listening to a fascinating and amusing illustrated talk on otters by Darren Tansley of the Essex Wildlife Trust.

The Society’s summer party was held on a rare lovely evening in June 2008
at the home of the president, Robert Erith: Shrubs Farm, Lamarsh.
