Protest at Manningtree Station's Berlin Wall

Tendring District Council’s failure to take action on Greater Anglia’s Berlin Wall along the path from Manningtree Station to Dedham and Flatford continues. More than three years after the car park was built without planning permission, this eyesore is the first thing walkers see as they leave the station to walk through the AONB. Last week, a group of concerned residents and the local landowner highlighted TDC’s failure to hold Great Anglia to account. The local councillor’s response – Paint a mural to disguise it! Not acceptable – the car park should have been set back and screened by vegetation as the older multi-storey car park closer to the main road has been. In a recent interview with ITV News, DVS Chairman, Charles Clover explained that the ugly wall of girders erected by Abellio Greater Anglia "has no planning permission, it does not even have a certificate of lawfulness. It is hideous and while everyone in the Vale was in favour of more parking, they were not in favour of this, because they were never asked!"
